Dine In: In Style

“One of my favorite things to do is set a beautiful table when I’m having friends over for dinner, lunch or brunch. It’s something my mother Funke does— even family dinners on Sunday night were set with  lovely crockery, her favourite dishes and fresh linens. I try to carry through my love of light and color into how I entertain. Here, for a friend’s birthday, I chose coloured mood lights as an accent with white fairy lights as ambient lighting and I love how they played on the fresh white linens and crystal candelabra. I didn’t get the exact moroccan lanterns I wanted (they were meant to be gold/bronze) to match our charger plates, but I ended up loving the contrast they brought to the whole table. I added in different floral bits and bobs  for texture — all inherited from Grandma Faj — that I found in the things she left us. I love using them, she loved flowers. It all plays off ivy garlands for a ‘natural’ touch on the canopies.  — Isoken
