Materials and Craftsmanship

We are passionate about creating high quality products that are not only fun and affordable, but also sustainable and eco-friendly.

All materials used in the creation of SYMBOLS OF AUTHORITY jewellery have been ethically and sustainably sourced. Our statement pieces are produced in 18ct gold-plated brass metal with a layer of 18-24ct gold in a 2 micron thickness. There’s also a layer of anti-tarnish for extra durability

Silver in its pure form is very soft so it is mixed with other metals to make it stronger and more durable. The silver used in SYMBOLS OF AUTHORITY jewellery is made up of 92.5% pure silver and a 7.5% mix of other alloys. You'll notice our Sterling silver items are stamped '925' to identify its quality.  We also plate our Silver in Rhodium, which gives the pieces extra shine and added durability.

We pride ourselves on only working with natural, freshwater pearls. No two pearls are Some of the organic, baroque-shaped pearls may have some minor marks and small blemishes. These are their natural characteristics and what makes each pearl so gorgeous and special!

Gemstones:

We work with a number of different kinds of  semi-precious stones.

*Please note that all of our jewellery is crafted using quality metals and natural pearls and gemstones, this means that your jewellery could host minor marks and inclusions. Because all of our pearls and gemstones are natural products they are unique and may differ slightly from item to item. This could result in the jewellery that you receive differing slightly in colour to the jewellery is featured on our website. We will not accept returns or exchanges due to the natural marks and inclusions within our jewellery.

CARING FOR YOUR SYMBOLS OF AUTHORITY JEWELLERY

All Symbols of Authority  jewellery is carefully handcrafted using natural gemstones and metals that require love and care to maintain their beauty. To maintain the original condition of your Symbols of Authority  jewellery avoid coming into contact with cleaning products, chlorine, nail polish removers, body lotions, perfume and hairspray.

Exposure to soaps, perfumes and lotions, including fake tan, hand-sanitiser and deodorant/body sprays, can result in tarnishing your jewellery over a longer period of time. To prevent this we suggest waiting to settle after applying, before putting on your jewellery. And don’t forget to remove your jewellery if you’re reapplying throughout the day.

When cleaning your jewellery please use fresh water and a dry cloth, it is extremely important to remove all excess moisture from your Symbols of Authority  jewellery. To deep clean your jewellery you need a specialist jewellery cloth that has not been chemically treated. Alternatively, you can use a good quality microfibre cloth.

We’re all about wearing your jewellery every day, but to keep your pieces looking their absolute best we highly recommend you remove your jewellery every time you wash or sanitise your hands, exercise and shower.

Storage

After wear and cleaning, always store your jewellery properly , ensuring they are kept away from direct sunlight and heat.

It’s best to store your favourite pieces in a clean dry place, such as a jewellery box or a fabric lined case. If possible, keep your jewellery in an airtight container, out of direct sunlight to prevent fading or oxidisation.

If you don’t have any of the above the pouch your jewellery comes in is a great ‘in-between’ place to store your jewellery. Please note we do not recommend using our packaging box for long-term storage.

Cleaning Your Jewellery

Ensure you polish your jewellery every few months. Be gentle!
We recommend either using a microfiber cloth or a specialist jewellery cleaning one. Do not use any other products or chemicals, they are NOT recommended for gold-plated jewellery. Silver pieces can be cleaned gently using warm soapy water. To keep your jewellery shining bright you can carefully clean your pieces with a soft toothbrush and warm soapy water. You can then pat dry with a soft cloth.
We also advise storing the same metals together as mixing silver and gold-plated jewellery for too long can result in tarnishing. (This doesn't apply to wearing mixed metals)
To deep clean your jewellery you need a specialist jewellery cloth that has not been chemically treated. Alternatively, you can use a good quality microfibre cloth.
